Jack London wrote two novels featuring dogs in the South Pacific: Jerry of the Islands and Michael, Brother of Jerry. Both novels feature an Irish terrier named Jerry and his adventures in the Solomon Islands. Jerry of the Islands is a true dog story told from the dog's perspective, following him after he is taken from his ship and finds himself among the tribes of Malaita.
