"Adventures of Sam Spade" was a suspense/detective radio drama from 1946–1951, starring Howard Duff (and later Steve Dunne) as detective Sam Spade and Lurene Tuttle as his secretary Effie Perrine. The series, which took a more lighthearted approach than the original Dashiell Hammett novel The Maltese Falcon, ran on multiple networks and featured Effie's quick wit in dialogue with Spade.
