I have listened to many of your podcasts and I love the books you choose. I often elect to read PD books because of their classic style. It’s been great listening to what you read, The Lost World in particular.

The 1001 series surpasses all podcasts without a doubt!!! I have been listening to the Return of Tarzan and you have outdone even yourself!!

Reading the classics can be hard with their beautiful vocabulary, but when it is read aloud it is easily understood! I love driving into classics that I have never read before. It is enjoyable and entertaining!

I listen to Johns podcasts to unwind, or as the soundtrack to mundane tasks (chores are easier to bare while listening to a good story). Thanks John!

I commute 2hrs per day for work. These stories make the time fly by. I’ve been through Huck Finn, Lost World, Treasure Island and more. Currently I’m on Captain Smith and it’s fantastic. Keep up the great work!

The narrator has so much enthusiasm for these classic novels! The Hound of the Baskervilles and Treasure Island are old favorites of mine and have been helping me calm down and go to sleep in this scary time. I also recommend these for people trying to get into these books who might be daunted otherwise.

Jon Hagadorn’s readings of these classic stories transforms my daily commute into a welcome literary escape that would only be improved by a cracking fireplace and worn-in arm chair. I especially enjoyed his O. Henry in 1001 short stories, the Ransom of Red Chief is my personal favorite and leaves me laughing every time I replay it. Thank you, Mr. Hagadorn. God Bless.

When my grandfather asked me how to play podcasts on his iphone, 1001 was the first show I downloaded for him. He loves the topics and the wholesome nature of the shows.

I’m grateful for these Stories for the Road; they help keep me awake if I need to on tired drives. It’s great to get better acquainted with stories I have dim memory of from the past. One thing I wanted to note; slough, when referring to a swamp, is pronounced like someone saying, “Ow!” Slough rhymes with ow in this instance.

The best! Especially the Mark Twain and Robert L. Stevenson! Beautifully narrated.

Wonderful stories told in a wonderful reading voice! Puts the text first and remains true to the author’s intent. A great way to discover new writers that have been lost to history and to revisit old favorites. I am loving the serialized reading of whole books. Treasure Island and Tarzan were fantastic and I am already hooked on Huckleberry Finn!

Narrator has no problems profiting off of old stories, but in the example of chapter 4 of Solomon’s mines(and the elephant hunting), and it being omitted from the story is ridiculous. Now he is omitting words from Mark Twain....Apparently the narrator believes better than the authors about what has relevance to his work. Political correctness? I do believe. I’d hate to be so weak minded—or at very least such a slave to money to the point of desecrating art for profit. Garbage.

Having enjoyed the black and white Tarzan movies of the 50s and 60s in my youth and then witnessed my children’s love of Disney’s animated version, it’s been delightful to listen to the rich origins of the Tarzan’s legend as told by your podcast. The quality of the narration is first class and adds to this wonderfully detailed classic piece of American fictional literature. Thank you!

I can’t believe how you dare to leave Jane in the jungle with that dangerous animal thirsting for their flesh. And to think, we’ll have to wait until next week to hear the results.
